Troubleshooting "Device is Offline" Messages in ClicSmart Devices

Introduction

Occasionally, your ClicSmart device may display an "Offline" status, which can interrupt your smart home experience. This knowledge base article is intended to help you diagnose and fix the problem when your device appears offline.

Common Reasons for Offline Status

  • Out of Bluetooth Range: Your device could be too far from your mobile phone or its central hub.
  • Wi-Fi Connection Issues (Specific to Wi-Fi Smart Plug): If you are using the Wi-Fi Smart Plug, it may be out of the range of your router, or the router itself could be offline.
  • Battery Depletion: Battery-powered devices might show an "Offline" status if the batteries need replacement.

Identifying Offline Status

  • A red dot on the device icon within your ClicSmart app is an indicator that the device is not currently connected.

Resolving Offline Issues

Check Device Proximity

  • Bluetooth Devices: Verify that your device is within the standard Bluetooth range of your phone or hub.
  • Wi-Fi Smart Plug: Ensure that the plug is within a strong signal range of your Wi-Fi router.

Replace Batteries

  • If you are using a device that operates on batteries, such as the ClicSmart Controller, replace the batteries if you see a low battery indication or suspect they might be depleted.

Reconnect Your Device

  • If the device is in range and battery issues have been ruled out, try these steps:
    1. Remove the Device from your ClicSmart app.
    2. Re-pair the Device using the instructions provided in the user manual.

Smart Assistant Connectivity

  • For devices connected to smart assistants like Alexa or Google Assistant:
    1. Check if the smart assistant device itself is online and operational.
    2. Make sure that the ClicSmart device is correctly linked within the smart assistant’s application.
